The new Honda CR-V is ready for its debut during the imminent Geneva Motor Show 2018 which will open its doors on March 6. The new generation of the Honda SUV arrives loaded with news to continue capturing the attention of the European driver. For this, the proposal of the Japanese manufacturer is a more refined product, spacious and with a passenger compartment showing higher quality finishes. The new generation of the Honda CR-V in its European version presents significant advances, both mechanically and the chassis itself, which according to the brand itself, is the most refined to date for a CR-V. Honda personnel sought to achieve the best relationship between ride comfort, off-road capability and driving experience. The exterior design of the new Honda CR-V changes remarkably. Now the Japanese SUV shows a more sophisticated image. Among the most significant changes made by brand designers are the wider wheel arches, a hood with more defined lines and a front with the main features of Honda. Highlight for headlights and front grille. Both bumpers have been redesigned and now feature more sculpted shapes. The covers to protect the lower engine and the lower rear floor area give the new Honda CR-V a more rugged look. In addition, the aerodynamic part has also been improved. For this, the new generation of the CR-V incorporates the system ‘Active Shutter Grille’, which helps to minimize fuel consumption.
If we take a look at the images of the interior, a cabin appears that shows a finish that, at first, conveys a greater sense of quality. On the dashboard were installed two 7.0-inch screens, one on the dashboard and one on the center console. On the other hand, the climate controls and other systems have been streamlined in a new set of controls located underneath the central touch screen. It has also gained in breadth, both in the front and rear, thanks to the increase in wheelbase. Thanks to this, the new generation of the Honda CR-V debuts a seven-seat version. Available as an option, the third row of seats offers the space required for two adult passengers. The seats have an angle of 101 degrees. In relation to the mechanical part, the great novelty is the arrival of a hybrid version. It will be the first time that the Honda CR-V will offer this type of mechanics. The new CR-V will be available with Honda’s Intelligent Multi Mode Drive (i-MMD), which is composed of a 2.0-liter Atkinson i-VTEC cycle gas engine and two small electric motors. There will also be a 1.5-liter VTEC Turbo petrol engine that can be combined with a six-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic. Both hybrid and petrol engines incorporate front-wheel-drive as standard. Optionally they can be associated to an integral traction system. In addition, it should be noted that the ground clearance has increased by 38 mm in all versions, thus improving its off-road capacity. The new Honda CR-V will start shipping in Europe shortly after its passage through the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. The first units will be delivered in the second half of this year. Initially the new CR-V will be available with the 1.5 VTEC Turbo petrol engine. At the beginning of 2019 the hybrid version will be available.
2019 – HONDA CR-V HYBRID EU VERSION
After being advanced through a prototype and revealing some of its key data, the new Honda CR-V Hybrid was finally introduced. Honda’s first hybrid SUV in Europe is already a reality. The new generation of the CR-V is electrified with an interesting non-plug-in hybrid version with which the manufacturer hopes to captivate the public that wants to start their particular transition to electric mobility. Aesthetically the new Honda CR-V Hybrid is quickly recognizable as it echoes the new image debuted by the new Honda CR-V of conventional mechanics. However, all versions of the CR-V Hybrid can be identified by the relevant emblem shown on the rear. In addition, it will feature as standard 18-inch alloy wheels and the most complete finishes will count among its equipment the panoramic sunroof. The new Honda CR-V Hybrid will be available in a total of eight exterior colors: Solid Rallye Red, Metallic Lunar Silver, Modern Steel, Cosmic Blue, Premium Crystal Red, Pearlescent Platinum White, Crystal Black and Premium Agate Brown. All this will be tempered with the modern design while sporty and the front / rear optics with LED technology. Honda also puts an emphasis on advanced aerodynamics with the Active Shutter Grille system. Leaving aside the exterior, inside the Honda CR-V Hybrid comes a passenger compartment that transmits quality thanks to the materials used. The distribution of the elements and, in short, their design, help to enhance the qualities of strength, strength and breadth. The shiny metal trim and the seat upholstery are other highlights. As with the new Honda CR-V, which is already available from dealers, the new Honda CR-V Hybrid benefits from the new touch screen to use the latest version of the infotainment system as well as a new instrument cluster. It also has numerous connectivity options as it is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The Honda CR-V Hybrid counts on the center console with its own controls that are needed to handle different points related to hybrid mechanics. Depending on the battery charge status and other issues, you can activate the EV Drive mode. The battery offers a full electric range of up to 2 kilometers. Another distinguishing detail has to do with the aforementioned infotainment system and the on-board computer. Both have been adapted to show the driver relevant information about the state of the hybrid system and the mode of operation in which it is circulated. The rest of the technological equipment does not present surprises, since it incorporates all the systems of assistance to the driving, equipment of comfort and security, that already can be found in the conventional CR-V. As for the mechanical part of the new Honda CR-V Hybrid, the main point of this electrified SUV comes with a conventional hybrid (HEV) system, ie no plug-in. Everything revolves around a 2.0-cylinder Atkinson i-VTEC gasoline engine with four cylinders that works in combination with a small electric motor. The powertrain generates a total power of 184 hp and 315 Nm of maximum torque. It has a conventional transmission.
Front wheel drive and full wheel drive versions will be available. The first one announces an average consumption of 18.9 km / l and CO2 emissions of 120 g / km. On the other hand, the CR-V Hybrid Total Drive announces 18.2 km / l emissions of 126 g / km. Both models can reach a top speed of 180 km / h, while the sprint from 0 to 100 km / h is done in 8.8 seconds for the FWD and 9.2 seconds for the AWD model. The lithium-ion battery is under the trunk and when it has its maximum load, it offers a fully electric range of up to 2 kilometers. The hybrid system of the new Honda CR-V Hybrid allows you to choose between the following operating modes:
EV Drive : Gets the energy from the lithium-ion battery pack to power the electric propulsion motor and provide transmission to the wheels while the gasoline engine is stationary.
Hybrid Mode : The gasoline engine acts as the power source of a second engine / generator providing the transmission to the wheels through the small electric motor which, in turn, receives electrical assistance from the battery.
Engine Drive : Through a clutch block mechanism a connection is generated in which the combustion engine provides the transmission directly to the wheels.

2019 – HONDA AND PROTOTYPE
The Japanese manufacturer will present at the Geneva Motor Show 2019 an evolution of its Urban EV Concept electric car presented in 2017, now with a look closer to the model that will arrive at the production. It is the Honda and Prototype, a new conceptual work that takes as its starting point the previous concept car, retaining the retro look that characterized it, inspired by the classics of the brand as the Honda Civic and Honda Life of the 70’s. But beyond the nostalgia, this new electric vehicle of Honda is full of technology and despite its small dimensions will be able to surpass the 200 kilometers of autonomy with a full charge of its batteries. It is the first Honda utility to use the new EV platform for electric cars from the Japanese manufacturer. According to the information provided by the manufacturer, from a dynamic point of view the car will offer a fun and rewarding driving experience, with engine and rear propulsion. For now it has not been announced what its power will be, but it is interesting to know that its batteries can charge 80% in only 30 minutes. The technology will be one of the pillars of Honda’s first electric model, with an interior that will feature digital instrumentation, as well as other screens that complete to form a large tactile surface that integrates all the functions of the car. The screens display information from the instrumentation, the infotainment system and even the automatic climate control, as well as two screens at the ends that display the images of the exterior side cameras that make up the rearview mirrors. But despite this great technology, the panel shows an attractive retro look, which has several nods to the classic design of the Japanese brand, where there are no shortage of wood, circular buttons and a classic steering wheel. In any case all that remains is to wait for his presentation scheduled for next March 5 in the Hall of Geneva to meet him completely.
2019 – HONDA INSIGHT
Advance in the form of the Honda Insight Prototype that the brand introduced at the last Detroit Motor Show in January, the new Honda Insight will debut this week at the New York Motor Show 2018. Therefore, the brand has already released the first images of the new model and its data, and as expected, the production version came as no surprise. The new Insight is identical to the prototype that the brand introduced in Detroit, the only difference is that the new model loses the ‘Prototype’ emblem; otherwise, there are no differences between these images and those of the initial model. The new Insight will be positioned between the newly renovated Civic and Accord, serving the purpose of replacing the hybrid version of the Civic, which will no longer be available. The new Insight 2019 will be available at the brand’s dealerships in the United States from June this year. Based on the same platform as the new Civic, which also shares with the Accord sedan, the new Insight uses aluminum elements in its construction, such as the front bonnet. The chassis layout also stems from that used in the Civic, with McPherson at the front and rear axle at the rear. It will be available in three trim versions, LX, EX and Touring, all sharing the same mechanical approach, a 1.5-liter Atkinson cycle engine combined with an electric group, delivering a total of 153 hp and 267 Nm of maximum torque. The motors combine their operation according to the needs of power, being able to circulate in pure electric mode in very short distances, below the 2 kilometers. Both the model and the hybrid scheme will be assembled in the United States. The Insight 2019 will be manufactured next to the Civic and CR-V at the Honda facility in Greensburg, Indiana, while the batteries will be added at the Marysville plant in Ohio. The engine will leave the brand’s plant in Anna, also in Ohio.
